"I AM REDEEMED!" (Week 48: 8/1-8/7)

Happy birthday to my cousin Joey, my second momma Steph Howe! 🎉🎉🎈🎈🎈

This week was just amazing. The week started out slow, but by the end
of the week was just sooo successful!

So lately Sister Roundy and I have been working with the members. We
have been trying to contact some new people to start teaching. We have
been asking the members at dinner if there is anyone who they know
that could use an uplifting message. Well last Sunday we had dinner
with the Hebertson's and they said to try their neighbor across the
street. So after dinner we walked over and asked them if they would
like to watch a video. Well they said no because they were putting
someone to bed, but that we could come back next Saturday! Well we
went back this Saturday and man this lesson was just amazing! The
spirit was soo strong. We invited them to pray and draw closer Christ
using the Book of Mormon. We also invited them to church. And usually
people we meet don't come to church, but Cevilla and Mickylah came to
church with us yesterday! It was amazing.

We also had another wonderful lesson with a referral from the
Whittier's they have some neighbors that they have gotten close too as
well. Missionaries have taught them before, but there wasn't a lot of
success in it. Well we tried one day after dinner and they said we
could come back. So we had a lesson with them as well on Saturday. It
was an awesome lesson, we shared parts of the restoration, and the dad
is just concerned with Joseph Smith and him truly being a prophet of
God, to know if the Book of Mormon is true. So we testified about
praying and asking God.. They didn't set up a return appointment but
we know that one day they will become members of our church. They love
the emphasis we put on families, and how we all are very close knit.
It's amazing.

Sister Roundy and I have also been working with some of the
less-actives/ inactives... So when Sister Manson was here we had tried
visiting a member named Sister Rees, she would schedule appointments
and sign up to feed us, and then never keep them. So we were finally
able to meet her on Thursday or Saturday and the lesson went really
well. She has been through a lot and she doesn't feel worthy anymore,
we testified about the Atonement and the blessing of having it. We
talked to her about how all of us make mistakes. We then invited her
to read her scriptures and to pray and we also invited her to church!!
GUESS WHAT! SHE ALSO CAME TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY! Like what!! She hasn't
been for like 2-ish years. And she also received a Priesthood
Blessing! It was soo awesome!

When Sister Manson was here we also tried getting another less
active/inactive here but he failed to show. Members also invited him
to church, but we invited Kent Forbes to church this weekend and he
came as well!!!! He even stayed for Sunday School!

We also got to visit a former investigator. Jim and Hannah. Let's just
say that lesson was so crazy. It wasn't like they were bible bashing,
but it kind of felt like it. In the end, they still have their church
and we still have ours, but we also did come to the conclusion that we
both don't believe in the Big Bang Theory!😂😂

I have also been thinking as I turn '20' this week, how amazing it has
been to serve a mission. There is nothing else I would have rather
done for this past year, 19 has been a great year, full of memories I
will never forget. Truly my mission has changed me, changed me for the
better and I am so very grateful for that.

Another awesome thing happened.... One day I received an email from on
of my investigators in Tappahannock! She had moved a couple weeks
after I moved.. Well the sisters there didn't really have her details
on where she was going, but this week Amanda was found by the
missionaries again! A sure testimony that this is the restored Gospel
of Jesus Christ. He will find his lost sheep!! The email is attached
in the pics!!

This week has been so amazing!!! And I am so grateful for the miracles
Sister Roundy and I have seen this week!

I know that our Savior Jesus Christ has redeemed us. I know that even
when we make mistakes, there is not road that is to long. I was
reading in he New Testament this week in Hebrews and it talked about
how Jesus Christ became lower than Angels, so that he could also
suffer to know the pains we go through. I know He suffered for each
one of us. I know that He knows our name. I also know that we can all
be redeemed by His grace!

I love y'all! Keep the faith!🌸

Love,
Sister Pewtress

"THE QUEST OF A LIFETIME!" (Week 47: 7/25-8/1)

First of, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY COUSIN EMILY!!!🎉🎈HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY
FRIEND LAURYN!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY GRANDMA, "MA"!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY
TO SAM AND ABBY POTTER!!hopefully I didn't miss anyone! I hope you all
have a wonderful birthday!! 😘😘💕

Where is time going? Don't you ever just feel like time is going super
fast? It honestly feels like I was just able to email you all
yesterday! There is a saying, I believe I shared at the beginning of
my mission, but I'm going to share it again.....

"The days are long, the weeks are short and the months fly by!" It is
so crazy to think that this month I will be turning the big 2️⃣0️⃣!
That is soo crazy to me. As I think to myself that no other 20 year
old would sacrifice their time to serve the Lord for a church, it
makes me so grateful for the opportunity to share it. The work of the
Lord is hastening! Well missionary life of course is great. It's been
kind of stressful this week, it really really great.

Sister Roundy have been trying to find a lot of new people.. We just
feel as if our investigator pool isn't really progressing all that
much, so we decided to seek out some new people! It's always an
adventure.. Especially in the humidity and heat! But hey that's
alright. More people feel sorry for us, but we love it! There's
nothing else that I would rather be doing with my time then sharing
the gospel! :)

We found a few new people that we have some set lessons scheduled
with. They were basically referrals from Ward members. Which is always
the best! Investigators from Ward members is like candy! So amazing!

One awesome story was while we were helping with sorting for the
bishop storehouse on Saturday, a member came over to us being super
excited and said that someone wanted to learn about the gospel. She
went on to say that she thought this was a "white" church, and didn't
know that all colors were welcome. We then went to find her and she
was heading out the church building. So we chased her down and asked
her if she wanted to learn more. She nodded yes and we got her
information, we then invited her to church and she said she could come
only if it was early in the morning, so we said that we had one at
9(the elders Ward) and one at 11 (our Ward). She said she could come
to the 9am one, so we said we would go with her. The next day we
texted her reminding her that we were going to be there and SHE
CAME!!! It was so awesome! I know the Lord prepares people. She didn't
understand a lot due to a language barrier, but she new a little. She
speaks Spanish so we handed her over to the Hermanas.

One scripture that I just want to leave with y'all is

Mosiah 2:17- "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn
wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your
fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."

I know that when we are in the service of our friends and family and
others, we are truly working as instruments in the Lords hands to
bring love and charity towards them. I invite y'all to be in the
service of your fellow friends and family! Be an instrument in the
Lords hands!

I know the Lord prepares people's hearts for the gospel. I know that
the work is in full force. I know this gospel brings true happiness
and I know that without a doubt that the Plan of Salvation is real and
that we can be with our families!

I am so grateful to be serving a mission! It has been the best quest
of a lifetime! I wouldn't trade it for the world!

I love y'all! And I hope you all had/have a super awesome week!

Love,
Sister Pewtress

"BECAUSE IM HAPPY!" (Week 46: 7/18-7/25)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SISTER, MY BROTHER, MY AUNT STEPH AND COUSIN
MASON!!!! Hope you all had a wonderful one! 🎈🎈🎈🎉🎉

Wow what a week! I'm kind of glad for today! It has been a crazy,
productive, heat wave kind of week! Though I am very grateful for it!

I am so very grateful for my mission! I am grateful for the people I
have met, the new friends I have made, the new things I have learned,
and the closeness I have with my Savior! It may be hard but there is
nothing that you can't do without the Lord's help!

So some crazy things that happened this week!

Sister Manson and I went to the chiropractor! We were popped, cracked,
twisted, and  well you get the rest. And we were sore for a day or so!
It honestly felt so good! I LOVE MEMBERS! And they love missionaries
so much that they help us so much!

Tuesday! It was a very sad day! I said goodbye to one of my newest
friends! I know we will definitely see each other again. Sister Manson
showed me how to love the people even more here on my mission! I will
forever be grateful for the things I have learned as her companion!
(MY BEST FRIEND... MT BEST FRIEND!!!) saying goodbye to Sister Manson
meant that I was receiving a new companion to further along the work
here in the Fredericksburg/Chancellor area! (AKA one of the BEST
AREAS) my new companion is from Meridian, Idaho. You know where
potatoes come from! WHICH MEANS FRENCH FRIES!! YUMM!! She plays the
piano... She actually served here in Fredericksburg 6 weeks ago,
before leaving to go down to the Richmond area. While she was serving
here, her companion at the time went home early due to some medical
conditions and so she spent a week here in my area! So she knows a lot
of our investigators as well as members! Super crazy. My companion is
Sister Roundy!

This week was wonderful and we were able to see so many miracles! One
of the miracles we saw was visiting some less active members of the
ward. We had stopped by unannounced, and when we went she didn't want
us coming in... But she had asked us if she could take us out to lunch
on Saturday! We agreed and so we met on Saturday and while we were
eating she and her husband and granddaughter wanted to take us out to
Costco to get some food and what not to make sure we were stocked up!
Well they are so nice and love the missionaries! Please pray that we
can continue to work with them and get them back to church:) below is
a picture of the things they bought us! :) soo nice!

We saw so many other miracles as well! And I am so grateful for this
opportunity to work here in this area!

Yesterday (Sunday) we had some wonderful talks given. They were all
centered on happiness and about what truly makes us happy! Here are
some thoughts that I gathered!

- Scientist have said that happiness is genetic
- The happier you are the less sick you are.
- Happy people earn more
- The more you hug your children the more happy they will be when they
are adults
- The plan of salvation/ plan of happiness
- Money only buys you happiness up to your needs
- Three things that make us happy:
1- gratitude, be grateful for things - one of the greatest
sins is ungratitude.       (gratitude quotes of sin)
2- forget yourself, and focus on others- Forget yourself and go
to work!!!!
3- personal worship; prayer, scriptures, church, etc.

Moroni 10:3-5, being grateful for God being merciful to the people

- To bypass spiritual destruction, be more grateful

The most miserable person is those who are obsessed with themselves.

Lose yourself in the service of others!!

I loved this so much and I know that as we lose ourselves in the
service of others we will be happier and receive more joy in our
lives!

I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially the Plan of
Salvation, or better known as the Plan of Happiness, truly does bring
joy to our lives!

I love you all and I encourage you to be happy! Lose yourself in the
service of others!'

Love,
Sister Pewtress

We miss Sister Manson!

I think he might be happy she's gone. Haha jk!
