so true... TIME FLIES WHEN YOU'RE HAVIN' FUN! This week was such a
good week. Though the days seemed long, the week was short. I feel
like I just emailed you all like what a day ago. I don't know if it's
just missionary life that is just going by fast or if it's the real
world too. Hey i don't want to even talk about time, because it's
going by way to fast!
Monday: we were tracting in this area and we were trying to visit some
former investigators and potentials. Well we had saw this young boy
outside and we asked if his parents were home and he stated that his
parents were separated, we asked if he could go get the parent that he
lived with and he went and got his mom. Her name is Amanda and she is
the sweetest women ever. We taught her the restoration and she wanted
to pray if it was true, well her prayers she said was when she was
getting in bed and she was laying on her pillow and said them there,
so we invited her to pray on the floor kneeling before she got into
bed. Well she did and she felt different! It was amazing to hear. We
also met with this other couple. Sister Halls and I sat in this room
with a bunch of different things on the walls and a green lamp! Yes a
green lamp, we were kind of freaked out. But we were done for the
night.
Tuesday: we started doing service at the Haven right across the street
from us. It's a place where donations come in for clothing and other
things and the money goes to a shelter for people who have been
victims of sexual assault. It's really fun because we get to work with
other volunteers from the community. Well we walk over to do service
so we didn't need to use the car, so as we were walking out of the
apartment, I locked the door behind us with just the door knob, well I
guess Sister Halls had left the keys in the house. So we were actually
locked out of the house 😳😳. Well my mission momma, Sister Johnsen,
had gotten into some other missionaries apartment one day using a
card, so I decided to "break" into our apartment. I did it! But man
was it kind of difficult. It was really funny though! Tuesday
afternoon we met with a less active, Tonya! She is soo fun! She
invited us over for some Louisiana cooking soon. Which basically they
boil crawfish, with potatoes and corn on the cob, and of course some
other foods. I'll let you know if we end up having it! I'm kind of
scared to try it. Well after that we headed to see the Pierce Family!
But before that we went and ate dinner at the State Park in
Westmoreland County. We sat on the beach, and enjoyed the fresh air.
It was really nice. We then visited with them and after the visit we
went over to an older women's house named Sister Carter. Her husband
isn't a member but she has stayed active for all her married life. Her
situation kind of reminds me of my great grandma,'Ma' and my Pumpa!
They sure do love each other but not enough to to change religions at
this moment in time! (Thank Goodness for TEMPLES!)
Wednesday: we had District meeting, and I gave my very first training
that was 10 mins. Sister Halls said it was really good, but I didn't
think it was all that great. But hey. We then went knocking some more.
And met some awesome people. After dinner we went tracting some more
and that's what we pretty much did this whole week! It we found some
awesome people. And we have almost gotten but by some dogs and so
forth.
Thursday: weekly planning of course! We met with Patrice, and talked
to her a little about our life on earth. We talked with a member who
lives on that street and just got to know them a little bit better. We
then met with Lauren. The lesson went pretty well. She addressed some
concerns about leaving her church because her stillborn son is buried
there. So she was scared about that. But we testified of the Plan of
Salvation. It was a very spiritual lesson. Later that night we met
with Amanda again. And she was able to read from the Book of Mormon
and we read with her also! She is really enjoying it. It's so awesome.
I know that sometimes people won't get baptized right away but I do
know that Heavenly Father is preparing their hearts and that I am
simply planting seeds and nourishing them. It's so awesome to be on
both sides.
Friday: we went to do service again at the Haven. And after that we
also went tracting some more. To fun! Lots and lots of walking. Well
we knocked on this door and the screen door was just there and this
lady comes to the door and basically says that she just had this
feeling/ someone say to let us in. So she let us in. Her name is Geri
and Well it was a really good lesson and she said she wants her kids
to hear our message as well, so we have a return appointment with them
this week! Friday night we finished with tracting. Not much happened.
We also baked some banana muffins and we took some over to one of our
members who has been stressing a lot. She was like how did you know I
haven't eaten. So we visited with her for a little and then we came
back and made more muffins for an inactive that loves right across the
way from us.
Saturday: we literally tracted the whole day. Part of it was tracting
with a dog. Molly a neighborhood dog came around with us and was
tracting. It was quite funny. When we returned her to the neighbor,
the neighbor strictly said she was atheist, so we didn't have a lesson
with her, but that's okay. We also planned our lesson for primary that
we had been asked to teach. So that was cool. The last house we
knocked we found this guy named Mark. He was the first person that
really wanted to hear our message, we have a return appointment with
him this week. He has read all sorts of religious material. The Book
of Mormon being one of them. So that was quite interesting. We will
see where it goes from there.
Sunday: we had some church meetings, and then we taught our lesson.
After church we went with Tiffany to visit some people, and we then
went tracting some more.
This week has been a crazy one, but one that will be with me for a
long time. It was awesome because with tracting comes many lessons,
which then comes lots of new investigators! It was amazing to see the
Lord handing us so many people who are prepared. Now it's truly up to
them on if they want to follow the Saviors path and be baptized!
I'm so grateful for this gospel. It truly is unique and is truly
Christ's church here again on the earth! I'm grateful to be a
missionary and to talk to everyone who is trying to be a better
person.
I love y'all and I hope y'all have an amazing week!
Love,
