serve and who have lost loved ones while serving!
What is charity?
Some people say it's giving of help, typically in the form of money.
But the scriptures have taught that it's the pure love of Christ. This
week we have been doing lots of service and it has brought me to think
about Charity, but not just charity, but also the atonement of Jesus
Christ. We would not have charity's for we didn't have Jesus Christ
who sacrificed His life for us. I am so grateful that I get to serve
the people in this area and to be charitable to my fellow men.
This week was crazy weird. I honestly felt like I was in a complete
haze. Missionary work does get monotonous and sometimes it gets
frustrating, but you just have to get back out and work. My trainers
mom once sent us an email in my first few weeks of my mission and said
that missionary work is monotonous but so is real life.
This week we slowly ran out of miles. So we did a lot of service in
the town of Warsaw. We did some service at the Haven, the thrift
store. It's always fun to help out there. We even get to invite people
to listen to our message while working. It's truly what our Father in
Heaven wants us to do. We served there every day this week.
On Wednesday and Friday we started helping out at a local food bank.
It's also another opportunity we have to share the gospel. It truly
was an awesome experience. We got to sort food for local places and
place them in containers to be shipped to 26 other food banks to serve
those in the community. It's such an awesome experience.
We did a lot of tracting this week as well. We parked and walked. Not
wry many lessons, but we were able to get some return appointments. A
lot of people were just busy and didn't want to hear from us.
Especially being a holiday weekend.
On Saturday we were tracting this area, and while we were driving we
saw this big thing going on. We slowed down and it was a Lawnmower
race! PEOPLE WERE RIDING LAWNMOWERS LIKE IT WAS A FOUR WHEEL! It was
the funniest thing in the world! All I could get was a picture of the
sign but hey! That's better than nothing. There's really not much to
do here, and why not just get on a lawnmower and race people. Haha!
I am so grateful for this gospel and I'm so grateful to be serving my
Heavenly Father and the people of Virginia. I'm grateful to share this
message of joy, happiness, and hope! I know that Jesus Christ is my
Savior and that He was the perfect example of Charity. He was so
loving to many and He gave his life for us.
I love y'all! I hope y'all have a safe holiday!
Love,
Sister Pewtress
